Fostering a healthy relationship among the opposite sex needs a lot of monitoring, counseling and above all awareness on gender sensitivity. The students at Evertronics institute are constantly reminded that they must give first priority to concentrate and complete the training program successfully.

Even after saying this many times there are still problems among the boys and girls who are in this love fantasy. Well it is a natural thing but these young people need to be closely monitored and counseled if not they may end up in un-healthy practices which may ruin their lives and future.

On 23 October 2008, I had an opportunity to speak to the girls on healthy relationship. We advised the girls to be mindful that they have a serious responsibility towards themselves, their families and the community that they can only fulfill by building a bright future for themselves. “Choosing a life partner is not an overnight matter and one needs to be careful in order to make the right choice,” said Mr. Nadaraja during his talk to the girls.

When the girls were asked to identify their criteria in choosing their life partner, following are the percentages we arrived at.

Looks – 25%

Education - 15%

Family background - 20%

Character/ behavior - 40%

Most girls have indicated to choose a partner with good character and behavior even though good looks are also highly sought for in their criteria lists. It is important that these girls need continuous education, awareness and guidance to make the right choice and set their priorities right.

The most important point that we stressed at the end of the session was to encourage the girls to take an oath that they will not indulge in sex before marriage. The girls unanimously agreed and made the commitment. I pray that these girls will remember the oath and they will have the boldness and self control to say no to sex before marriage.
