Breaking Fast With Muslim Patner

On 4th November 2003 around 6.30pm at Pan Pacific Hotel, Kuala Lumpur, YSS together with the Ministry of National Unity and Community Development organized a Breaking of Fast for its Muslim partners and friends. YB Dato Seri Dr. Hajah Siti Zaharah Bt. Sulaiman, Minister for National Unity and Community Development, honored this event.
Around 390 guests were present at this event. YB. Dato Veerasingam, Parliament Secretary, YBhg. Dato’ Dr. P. Manogaran, Ketua Setiausaha, YB Tan Sri Dato’ K.S. Nijhar, Chairman of Yayasan Strategik Sosial, his wife Puan Sri Datin Molina Nijhar, Tan Sri Raymond Navaratnam, Tan Sri Lee Lam Tye, President MCPF and also YBhg. Prof. Dato’ Mohd. Hamdan Bin Hj. Adnan, Ahli Majlis Suhakam are some VIP guests who graced the occasion.
Other honorable guests present were from the Embassies of Germany and Japan and the High Commissions of Singapore, Britain, and India. Other personnel present were from Kementerian Perpaduan Negara dan Pembangunan Masyarakat, Kementerian Pembangunan Wanita dan Keluarga, Lembaga Pembangunan Penduduk dan Keluarga Negara, Dewan Bandaraya Kuala Lumpur, Majlis Perbandaran Petaling Jaya, Kementerian Belia dan Sukan, Jabatan Khidmat Negara, Biro Tatanegara, GIAT MARA, some senior Police Officers, NGOs such as FOMCA, MCPF, Persatuan Penduduk, Ahli Jawatankuasa Kejiranan Rukun Tetangga Jalan Klang Lama, Ahli Jawatankuasa Kejiranan YSS and volunteer’s from Private Sector.
YBhg. Dr. Denison Jayasooria, Executive Director YSS, said in his speech that the purpose of the event was to foster closer relationship between YSS, other NGO’s and government bodies and also to introduce the work of YSS in a formal manner to all those present.
This event commenced with a Breaking Fast Buffet dinner at 6.58 pm and continued by a multimedia presentation on YSS activities. It was then followed by the speech by YB. Dato Seri Dr. Hajjah Siti Zaharah bt. Sulaiman. In her speech YB mentioned about the grant that was allocated to YSS for two years and the outcome of the activities. She also promised that efforts would be taken for the grant to be continually allocated to YSS in the coming years.
This breaking of fast event proved to be a good opportune moment to present the activities of YSS to the NGO’s and government bodies. This is also an effective tool to foster closer relationship. All the guests gave their morale support to YSS and thanked YSS and Ministry of National Unity for arranging such event.
